FastFlood Pro

We are proud to announce the start of FastFlood Pro, a subscription service for FastFlood with some amazing benefits.

The FastFlood Pro subscription gives you acces to improved elevation datasets. By default, SRTM data was used, which can feature a lot of noise, which lowers the quality of flood modelling results. We have now made the Copernicus 30m global elevation dataset available as pre-processed and pre-projected elevation dataset. Just select it when you auto-download elevation for your study area.

You further get access to the forecasting tool. Here, you can auto-download weather and soil moisture datasets for the entire globe, and run simulations for 10 days into the future. We are contiuously uploading forecasts and soil moisture datasets, and you will be able to select from all of the available dates. We plan to extend the historic record to include the past years in the near future. Do be carefull with the automatic forecasting tool. Its purpose is currently to help with calibration, validation, and scenario exploration. You can NOT use this as an early-warning system out of the box. If you wish to make an operational version of fastflood for real-time early warning, please contact us to discuss how this might be set up in a more robust way.

We have made available pre-processed global datasets of rainfall analysis based on ERA5. You can auto-download design storms and directly use these for flood hazard mapping. For various duratoins and return periods, you can choose between either spatial or averaged extreme rainfall for your area. Finally, you can also visualize the full IDF curves and GEV graphs.

We have improved the automatic calibration tool, improving stability, and with more options for optimizing your model when comparing with observations.

Price

At the moment, FastFlood pro will be available for 35 euro/month.

This helps us cover the technological costs (hosting for the pre-processed data is costly due to the size of global datasets) and support the further development of the tool.

A final note

To clarify, the improved data that is provided is available in raw form from the institutions that developed them. If you prefer to process the data yourself this is very well possible. See www.lisemmodel.com for more resources on how we typically do this. With FastFlood Pro, you gain access to easy-to-use, pre-processed versions of this datasets.
